Long weekend is for vacation.

Little or no time to die for him
And nothing much for meditation.

Before flexed arm start stretching
Or the stretched one start bending

There is a chance you stop breathing
That’s our Burmese saying.

What can happen to die like this?
It is an opportunity to seriously think

The wise think about passing away
They start preparing for clean pathway.

There is the Retreat during holiday
To practice Insight meditation every day.

It was great joy to see everyone at 9th Kathina ceremony for Panditarama Melbourne Meditation Centre on 31st October. It was a successful ceremony with devotees filling up the centre despite merciless rain a day before.

9 sayadaws blessed the ceremony with their attendence. They travelled from near and afar to to share their loving kindness.

Well wishers worked hard to make this event happen successfully. Most helped by cooking, washing dishes!! and decorating the centre.Wishing well Kathina tree looked grand decorated by Ko Nyi Nyi and Dr Aung Phyo Oo.

Well wishers came from near and afar (as far as from Singapore),some even travelled on the bus for 12 hours to get to the ceremony. Some stayed over in the centre helping with the preparation overnight until 3:00am on Sunday morning and to offer Breakfast (Aryone SWAN) to the sayadaws despite merciless rain made their female Yogi’s accomodation into a floating hotel with water views .Their tireless efforts make this event happen smoothly.

Sayadaw U Pannathami gave a great Dhama talk with benefits of offering robes and SWAN offering during this Kathina ceremony.

After SWAN offering to the sayadaws, devotees enjoyed a great lunch provided by everyone with verities of food from different cultural backgrounds. Well wishers stayed back after the ceremony to clean the centre and completed the ceremony.

At the end of the ceremony,we have requested the sayadaws to grant sponsorship/co- sponsorship for next Kathina ceremony which the devotees from Australia has not done since we have started the ceremonies 9 years ago.

We wish to see you again for next joyous Kathina ceremony for 2011.

On behalf of Panditarama Meditation Centre family, I would like to thank all devotees for making this event happen so joyfully. May the merits of this Dhana bring you happiness, joy and Nibanna.

The Ten days Easter Meditation Retreat was officially conducted from 1st-10th April at PMMC. It managed to attract a total of 15 Yogis including 7 men and 8 women. They had completed the ten days retreat on daily basis. In addition, there were 15 yogis who practiced the meditation during their spare time.

The centre was happy to see the Yogis to practice the meditation seriously throughout the retreat session. It was the best rewards to the effort by volunteers and donors who were keen to help and donate food to make the retreat a success.

There were chanting and Dhamma talks during the retreat. We welcome our Dhamma friends to participate in the session though you are unable to attend meditation as the yogis in future retreat. Most of us have beneficiated so much from the Dhamma Talk and we know it is something worth to bring home and share with friends from time to time.

The committee was thankful to all the volunteers and Dhamma friends for their support and help. Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu!

Our first meditation retreat was conducted successfully and there were an average of 12 Yogis attended the daily meditation.

The insight knowledge from Vipassana Meditation arises from observation from your clear and pure mind. It is not something to search for, but something that you need to experience at your own. The noting mind and the noting object are discussed in the teaching. Sayadaw has personally demonstrated both sitting meditation and walking meditation to ensure Yogis have proper practice and understanding.

We are very thankful to the Dhamma friends and donors in terms of food, requisites to the Sangha, and volunteering job throughout the retreat. Without their help and support, the 7-days retreat could never be so successful. SADHU! SADHU! SADHU!

We hope the Yogis will carry on their mindfulness in meditation practice from time to time. We welcome new and old Yogis in future retreat in 2010. Again, we share our gratitude to our Dhamma friends for the great support to the centre throughout the year. As Buddha said, “The one who holds and carries the Dhamma, always being protected by the Dhamma”.

The PMMC committee would take this opportunity to wish all the members and Dhamma friends of the centre- HAPPY NEW YEAR and fruitful year in 2010!

Smoking is not allowed.

Sleep should be limited complying to the program to improve meditation.

Meditators must strictly adhere to the meditation teacher’s instructions and should not practise according to other meditation methods.

Meditators must not get involved in any activities not related to intensive meditation, (e.g. listening to the radio or tapes, taking massage, taking photographs, collecting books, performing acupuncture, receiving visitors, cooking food, learning Burmese, English, Pali, engaging in political, business and social affairs.)
