Panditarama Melbourne Meditation Centre was established in 1st November 2001 with the guidance of Sayadaw Ashin Pannathami. Currently Sayadaw Ashin Pannobhatha (Sasanadhaja Dhammacariya, B.A.Psychology, HGP) is residing at resident house temporarily, kindly offered by Dr Nan Si Si Win whilst the new meditation centre is being built.

Even though it is a Buddhist practice for Sayadaws to have “patience”, it is disheartening to see the resident Sayadaw residing in a building that is not appropriate for dwelling to meet Melbourne’s harsh weather.

After many months of debates with pros and cons of the need for new building and despite Sayadaws’ saying they don’t need one, we have finally decided to have a new building.We were glad it eventuated into a fruitful plan and the Sayadaws no longer have to reside in the building that even the devotees can’t live.

Now we have collected some donations, donated by devotees around the world such as from Malayasia, Singapore, UK, USA, Japan, New Zealand and Australia. We still need some donations to cover the cost. The new building will cost around A$320,000. Your donation of any amount small or large shall enable us to propagate the teaching of the Buddha.

It is a nice, quiet and comfortable place for all to have regular meditation classes for yogis, give Dhamma talks, celebrate Buddhist cultural festivals, cultural events and monthly food fair and many more.
